I’m Chris Tiberio, a ceramicist in New Orleans. I make pieces inspired by the places I visit and the forms that nature creates within them.

What captivates me
becomes the piece.

Roots growing over rocks in Maine's Acadia National Park. Nature taking over old pipes and pillars in the waters of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Those details find their way into the clay, like barnacles on a boat.

Many of these pieces already found homes. Message me on Instagram to see what’s available now.

The story

"It starts with
what catches my eye."

When I'm walking around I'm constantly taking pictures of how nature interacts with things. It makes me a pain to walk with, but it inspires me to think of different ways to create something.

“Sometimes the piece comes first, and then I find it's driftwood soulmate. Other times the driftwood demands a specific piece to be made for it.”

"When I work on a piece of driftwood, I carve away the sharp or unstable parts and shape the wood to reveal it's natural form."

The maker

Making is how
I quiet the day.

Hi, I’m Chris. Like a lot of newer potters, I started taking ceramics classes in late 2021 after watching The Great Pottery Throwdown. I’ve been following my curiosities through clay ever since.

Working with clay helps quiet my OCD and gives me something unique to concentrate on. I’m always learning and trying new things, so I love when someone recognizes a form I’ve sculpted: a mushroom, a bit of coral, a cluster of barnacles.

“It is a way for me to zone out, to quiet all of the minutiae of the day.”
